The Process

Although it may sound confusing, the flocculants and coagulants processes are relatively simple, but must be done in a set order.

• Coagulation – the first step in the process is coagulation.  This basically involves placing a coagulant agent into the water to destabilise the charges in the particles.  This enables the particles to stick together and eventually makes them larger.  Although it sounds complicated it really isn’t, and can even be done at home.  The coagulation process must be complete before the next step can occur.
• Flocculation – this step basically continues the particle enlargement stage so that they are big enough to see with the human eye.  Flocculation is basically a slow mixing process which can take anywhere from 20 minutes to a few hours.

Once the flocculants and coagulants processes have been completed, it is relatively simple to filter the water to make it clean enough for human consumption.  The processes can be done on your own, but most commonly are done professionally.

It is up to you how long you leave the issue, but a problem is only likely to get worse over time. The best tactic is to tackle the spoilage as soon possible, since degradation has a habit of developing faster than you think.

Damage

If an area of exterior flooring is showing significant wear and tear, you should think about the conditions it is exposed to on a day-to-day basis as this will affect the type of material used; although the majority will tend to be epoxy resin or mortar options.
